Chronic Kidney Disease

Those with chronic kidney disease may also have a condition called anemia, which means your body doesn’t have enough red blood cells. Red blood cells carry oxygen to the rest of your body, giving you energy for your daily activities.

About the Protect Study:
The PROTECT Study is a new research study for people with anemia due to chronic kidney disease. It compares an investigational oral medication, called vadadustat, to an approved anemia medication given by injection. You
may be eligible to participate if you have anemia due to chronic kidney disease and are not on dialysis. If you are unsure whether you have anemia, a doctor can diagnose it with a simple blood test.

Why Participate?
If you qualify and enroll in the clinical trial you will:
– Receive all study-related medication, tests and examinations at no cost
– Learn more about how to manage your anemia due to chronic kidney disease
– Contribute to our research of treating anemia due to chronic kidney disease
